A hearty and flavorful Irish brown bread made with the rich, malty notes of Guinness stout. Perfect with soups, stews, or simply spread with butter.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of whole wheat flour, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar.
Make a well in the center and pour in 1 1/2 cups of buttermilk and 1 cup of Guinness stout.
Stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
