A flavorful and quick teriyaki beef and broccoli stir-fry, perfect for a weeknight meal.
In a bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of soy sauce, 1/4 cup of mirin, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of sake, 1 teaspoon of ginger (grated), and 1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic.
Slice 1 pound of sirloin steak into thin strips. Marinate the beef in half of the teriyaki sauce for at least 15 minutes.
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add 4 cups of broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes, until tender-crisp.
Pour the remaining teriyaki sauce into the skillet with the broccoli. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly.
Return the beef to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for 1 minute, until heated through.
Serve the teriyaki beef and broccoli over rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.
