A simple and fresh Mexican salsa made with tomatoes, onion, cilantro, jalapeƱo, and lime juice.
Step 1: Wash and dry all vegetables.
Step 2: Dice the tomatoes into small, even pieces (about 1/4 inch). Place them in a medium-sized bowl.
Step 3: Finely dice the white onion and add it to the bowl.
Step 4: Mince the fresh cilantro and add it to the bowl.
Step 5: Remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeƱo (for less heat) or leave them in (for more heat). Finely dice the jalapeƱo and add it to the bowl.
Step 6: Add the lime juice and salt to the bowl.
Step 7: Gently mix all the ingredients together until well combined.
Step 8: Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add more salt, lime juice, or jalapeƱo to your preference.
Step 9: Let the pico de gallo sit for at least 10 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together. This also helps reduce the onion's sharpness.
