An elevated grilled cheese sandwich featuring artisanal bread, gourmet cheese, and a flavorful spread.
Spread 1 tablespoon of fig jam evenly on one slice of sourdough bread.
Layer 2 ounces of Gruyère cheese and 1 ounce of aged cheddar cheese on top of the fig jam.
Top with the second slice of sourdough bread and spread 1 tablespoon of salted butter on the top of the bread.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet, butter-side down.
Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey.
Remove from skillet and let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
